Miracle-Gro Expand 'n Gro Review AND Giveaway

This post brought to you by Scotts®. All opinions are 100% mine.

With my recent "Green Thumb" post, you all know I am determined to break into the gardening world! When asked to review and share the all new Expand ‘n Gro™ from Miracle-Grow, I was beyond excited!

With a 20 month old, I can give a lot of entertainment from pouring water on something and watching it expand. That isn't why you should try it, but I can tell you it was a perk for us. Anyone who participates in gardening, ground or container knows hauling around the huge bags of planting soil is nearly back breaking. My full size bag was SO LIGHT. I was sold on it right then and there! Here are some of the benefits of Expand 'n Gro!

-Up to 3X the Flower and Vegetables versus native soil

-Significantly improves soil for several years

-Planting Mix expands to 3X's its original size

-Feeds for up to 6 months

-All natural fibers hold up to 50% more water than basic potting soil

I won't see the full effects from the Expand 'n Gro for a few more weeks, but I can already tell it is helping this novice gardner out tremendously. I am a horrible judge of when to water my plants, but with Expand 'n Gro, I don't have to worry about that. It reduces native soil's bulk density, making it 40% lighter and creating up to 90% more air space!+

AdvertisementMiracle-Gro has graciously provided a sample of Expand 'n Gro for one of my lucky readers! To enter, leave a comment below telling me your favorite thing to plant or what you hope to plant this year! Giveaway ends Wednesday, April 4th at 12:00am. Good luck!!

Too neat! My husband surprised me yesterday with Carribean Jewels. They are a really neat purplish flower, with tulip-like leaves. My goal is purely to prevent their demise. That, to me, would be a huge accomplishment.

What did you plant in your soil?

My mom has always planted sunflowers on the south side of the house and they usually grow up to 5 feet, they are beautiful. I hope to plant some of those at my own little house. I also want to make my own little flower bed with a variety of colorful wild flowers.

I just started gardening last spring. My grandma has always gardened and every time I visit, we go out to her garden and pick/shell peas and make fresh salsa from the tomatoes and jalapenos! My favorite thing to grow is cucumbers! They are so easy to grow! For my first garden last year I probably produced 40 cucumbers! This allowed me to make tons of homemade dill pickles! I love dill pickles! I didn't have much luck with my fall garden, but am looking forward to planting this Friday (Good Friday) for my spring garden this year!
