Amazing Party Looks

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://moms.dailybuzz.com/channel/style

Quick and affordable holiday looks are what everyone wants this time of year. Between family dinners, company holiday parties, and endless amount of photos we will all be in, looking your best is key! Here are a few tips and tricks I use this busy (and cold) season.

With cold weather and big Oklahoma winds, I am destined for dry skin and lips. To hydrate, I have made it a habit to drink lots of water. Externally, I religiously apply a few skin, lip, and face products. Hydrated, smooth skin really goes a long way when you want to look your best! Dry skin is prone to redness, cracking, and flaking. No one wants any of that. A smooth palate is really crucial for great looking make up. Here are the products I use.

At night (in this order):

Face
Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream Peach & Willowbark
Burt's Bees Natural Acne Solutions Clarifying Toner
Clearasil Ultra Overnight Face Lotion
Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream

Body
Eucerin Calming Body Wash Daily Shower Oil or baby oil*
Aquaphor Healing Skin Ointment*

In the morning (in this order, before I apply make up)

Face
Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream
Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Lotion SPF 15
Aquaphor Lip Repair
Jergens Natural Glow Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 20 Medium to Tan Skin Tones

Body
Aquaphor Healing Skin Ointment*
Jergens Natural Glow Medium to Tan Skin Tones Firming Daily Moisturizer OR
Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer Medium to Tan Skin Tones

*I have a genetic skin condition called ketosis polaris. Completely harmless, but there is no treatment. It's is most commonly found on the arms. Its basically where the skin protein keratin forms hard plugs in the hair follicle. Kind of looks like goose bumps and gets worse with dry skin. The products starred are ones that help hydrate my arms. They aren't just for those with this condition; they are amazing products for anyone who suffers with extremely dry skin. My husband uses the healing ointment on his hands after being outdoors or washing is hands frequently. It does wonders.

Whew, now that we have made it through my skin care routine, let's move on to the fun part! Make up!!

Again, a smooth face makes such a huge difference when applying make up. I always use a primer before applying base. It sort of acts like double sided tape. It fills in wrinkles and also helps your foundation stick throughout the evening! Love this one.

There are really two ways I like to go when getting glammed up: a dramatic eye or dramatic lip. Don't do them both...it tends to look like too much. Focus on making one area "pop".

I love a beautiful crimson or holiday red lip. All of these mate looks can be done with a lip stain or long wear lipsticks. See how the rest of their make up is very subtle and neural looking? That's what you are going for!

If you choose to go with a dramatic eye, stick with warm, jewel tones. Think plum, sapphire, ruby, bronze, and dark turquoise. I seriously love Rimmel because of inexpensive and great their products are. I can actually afford to try so many different looks when I pick up a shadow or two.

Finish off with your favorite mascara. Mine? Right now it's L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara. It certainly isn't an everyday mascara, but for special occasions this is my go to!!

Now, what are some of your favorite holiday/winter looks?

Thank you for sharing about the products you use for your skin condition. I have the same and my son has inherited it as well, only unfortunately he has it worse and a bit on his cheeks.
I appreciate you sharing what you use, I grew up thinking there was nothing to be done. I'll be writing down what you use! :)
Blessings to you!

Absolutely! Before I knew what it was, I was exfoliating it to death. Which, my doctor tells me either helps or makes it worse (lucky me). Those products really do help! They won't make it go away completely but it will start to fade after only a few weeks. At first, I applied the Aquaphor in the morning and before bed. It helped so much, that I was able to reduce it to just before bed. Good luck and thanks for stopping by!
