Urban Wine Works

If you aren't an Oklahoman, there is something you need to know about the OKC area. It is changing...in a very exciting way. People are coming out of their homes, getting off their tractors, and actually learning to embrace different foods, experiences, art, music, and people. It is amazing. I am so excited to be a part of it. No, I don't live in the middle of it all (I can't handle traffic), but we do live a short 15 minute drive from the heart of downtown OKC. In just the last 5 years, there are more choices and fun things to do! So proud of this city and what is happening here.

I recently had the amazing opportunity to visit Urban Wine Works in the Plaza District with my BFF and fellow blogger, Melissa! I wasn't sure what to expect, but as a former waitress at a wine and tappas bar, I was pretty excited.

Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed was the HUGE, and I mean HUGE patio. I love a good patio. Once inside, I was surprised to see a large gift/merchandise area. Take a look at a some of the fun things that are available!

Look at his tiny wine glass!

The decor is beyond cool. I love that many empty wine bottles have been incorporated throughout the winery. I found it interesting that the wines are actually bottled at this location!

Their slogan "Damn Fine Table Wine"

We had the wonderful opportunity to sample all eight of their wines. Most of them are made from grapes grown in Oklahoma. Say what?? Any wine that I have ever had that is from an Oklahoma grape has tasted like dirt. Straight up. These...are amazing.

In addition to wine, they do offer a full lunch and dinner menu. I mean, who doesn't love a little baked brie with their wine??

Check out their labels. Each is a different color and I LOVE the paring suggestions found on each bottle!

The Plaza Red

Pinotage (my personal favorite, I took a bottle of this home!)
Aglianico
Petite Sirah (came in at a close second)

The Plaza White

Chardonnay

The Plaza Rose'

and finally, the Symphony

I had such a wonderful time! Thank you so much to Urban Wine Works for having us! You can find out more about them on Facebook and Twitter

Look for more local reviews soon! In fact, I'm working on a new one this evening (which means I'm eating somewhere fabulous).

This looks like a neat place! I only live a few hours away from OKC and this may be a fun outing for my husband and I! Thanks for the review.
